Introduction to prepainted metal
Prepainted metal is produced by adding paint or film coating to strip metals, primarily steel
and aluminium, on a continuous basis. This process is called coil coating. Coil coating is a
highly efficient means of coating strip metals before fabrication of finished components,
providing a high quality, uniform and reproducible surface finish.
The prepainted metal industry
The prepainted metal industry is a well developed, worldwide industry with over 40 years
of history. Output of the global prepainted metal industry is nearly 15 million tonnes per annum
of prepainted steel.
